Concurrent Enrollment

WHAT IS CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT?

Concurrent enrollment provides those students who qualify with the opportunity to take college level classes while in high school.  Students who test “college ready” in English and/or math are eligible to apply for this fabulous opportunity.  Students who are accepted into concurrent enrollment can earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously.  The best part?  These classes are offered to the student for free!  D49 pays the tuition costs associated with these classes (and in some instances, also cover the costs of textbooks), which are taken through Pikes Peak Community College.  These classes are also weighted, meaning that the student earns extra points towards their cumulative GPA.  Furthermore, these classes may be transferred to a public Colorado 4-year college or university if the student plans to pursue a 4-year degree.  Concurrent enrollment opportunities are available during the fall and spring semesters so be sure to watch your high school newsletters throughout the school year for application dates and information.
