High Performance Program (HPP)
El Paso County School District 49, located in the eastern region of Colorado Springs, strives to be the best education choice for every family. District 49, through the iConnect Zone, is providing the High-Performance Program (HPP) to serve student groups with various unique talents. Students have the opportunity to earn a high school diploma while developing specific athletic and creative skills at the highest levels.
In partnership with the United States Olympic Committee, National Governing Bodies, and other high-performance organizations in Colorado Springs, the iConnect Zone has outlined a structure that allows athletes and participants to train and compete in the best possible environment while meeting their goals of earning a high school diploma. The program inspires students to achieve real and meaningful challenges by surrounding them with nurturing support to accomplish ambitious goals of becoming world-class performers while receiving a world-class education.
Student academic progress is accomplished at District 49’s Springs Studio for Academic Excellence (SSAE). This partnership provides a full-time, flexible, online, and blended education opportunity for students. The program provides the environment to advise students on the pathway to post-secondary success, including pre-college counseling, athletic and academic scholarships support, financial aid support, and college entrance assessments. The NCAA Clearinghouse certifies all courses at SSAE. Additionally, students interested in continuing their education beyond high school can obtain an associate college degree through District 49’s Pikes Peak Early College (specific req. must be met to qualify for this program).
The High-Performance Program’s Administrator works directly with families and organizations to build, monitor, and adjust the appropriate programming to meet the students’ rigorous training, competition, and academic needs. The administrator provides additional academic attention needed to engage the students and maintain the program's integrity. The administrator also provides a high-quality, robust educational structure as part of the overall effort to foster student success. As the program continues to grow, the SSAE will remain committed to finding proactive and innovative solutions to balance the needs of every student.
